Useful Information

First time flying privately? We’ve put together some useful pieces of information to guide you. You choose the aircraft and the destination, we’ll handle the rest.

Planning Your Trip

When deciding where to go and on which aircraft, you should ask yourself the following questions:

  • Where do you want to go?

  • How many passengers do you have?

  • When do you want to depart and return?

  • How much luggage will you have?

  • What size aircraft do you prefer?

  • What is your budget?

We understand that choosing the right aircraft can be overwhelming. To help you understand which one is right for you, we’ve categorised aircrafts below.

Which Aircraft Should I Choose?

  • Compact: Also known as very light jets, these are the smallest type of private jet, usually seating four passengers with a flight range of two to three hours.

  • Light: Accommodating four to six passengers, light jets can fly for a duration of three to four hours, depending on number of passengers and luggage onboard.

  • Midsize: Offering more cabin space than compact and light jets, midsize jets can typically seat between seven to nine passengers, and can fly four to six hours.

  • Super Midsize: with a wide-body cabin, these jets can accommodation up to ten passengers and can fly between five to seven hours.

  • Heavy: also known as ‘kingsize’, these jets can accommodate a higher number of passengers, between 12-14, and can fly for a longer range of up to eight hours.

  • Ultra Long Range: as suggested by the name, this category of jets can fly long-haul routes up to 14 hours with seating for up to 14 passengers.

Where Can I Fly to on a specific aircraft?

Not sure how far an aircraft can go? We’ve put together a map showing the average flying distance for a range of aircraft.

The check-in process differs per airport. The general process consists of arriving at the fixed-base operator (FBO) which usually has a lounge, eating facilities and restrooms. The security process is expedited, you’ll need to show your passport but no need to remove liquids from your bag or take your shoes off! Some FBOs allow you to drive your car on the tarmac up to the aircraft, but we will advise where this is possible.

Unlike flying commercially, you will need to arrive and check-in at least 30 minutes prior to take off.

What to Expect at the Airport

By April 2025 all visitors to the UK who do not need a Visa will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation to travel to the UK.
